Dec 31,2011 Boomers New Year

We spent New Year's at Lake Mittry with the Boomers. On New Year's Eve we had a z circle party. There were 16 rvs and 32 people more or less. 4 couples hosted in there rigs and everyone else moved for 1 rv to the other.Every 45 minutes 2 or 3 couples would move on to another rig and meet other new people. You take snacks or desserts to the first rig and leave it at that first rig. At 11:30 we had a big bonfire to ring in the New Year. It's a great way to meet new people and have fun too.

Dec 27,2011 New Years

We spent Christmas with our daughter and son-in-law in San Diego. They had just moved into a high rise apt. in downtown San Diego on the 39th floor. What a view. They can see Pt.Loma and the marina,Balboa Park and the planes coming and going at the airport. We spent Christmas Eve at some of their friends house in Carlsbad and had a very nice dinner with 20 people. Here's photos of Jill and Jim's new pad.
Christmas Eve Josh,Ryan,Jim,Jill,Sam and me
Christmas day Zed and Marcie and Vince came to Jill's for dinner. I had bought some crackers that are a tradition for the English and we all had fun with them.Crackers are paper filled with trinkets that are much like that of finding a prize in Cracker Jacks. You pull both ends and they make a loud bang and out comes your prizes. We all wore our royalty hats.

We stayed at Thousand Trails Pio Pico and drove into our daughters everyday. The weather couldn't have been better. Here's a photo of Otay lakes close to where we are staying.

We spent the day after Xmas at the kid's just enjoying and relaxing on the patio.
We will be leaving on the 27th and going to Yuma to Lake Mittry for New Year's with the Boomers.

Dec.3 2011 What's New

We haven't been doing much of anything since mid Oct. Sam had surgery on his bladder and prostate and to remove a stone. He's back to normal  and the Dr. said he can go back to doing whatever with no limitations. We are at Park Sierra till ? We had a nice Thanksgiving here in the park with lots of food and socializing. We had a happy hour at our place last week with a few friends. Dave and Brenda Neil and Hank and Monica Rose were here for a few days.
Saturday was a beautiful day and we took a ride up to Mariposa. They were having a small Xmas craft fair and I bought a pretty necklace.Sam took a few photos of the countryside.
On the way home we stopped at the casino for the buffet which was great as usual. It's only 5minutes from the park.I also deposited some of my money and got nothing in return.I have to have a ultra sound done on my liver Fri. and see my Gastrologist on the 14th. Hopefully we will be able to head south after that. We want to get down to some warmer weather. Hope to see lots of you in Yuma and Quartzsite this winter.

We had a nice evening with a open bar and buffet dinner. A photo of the bride to be and future mother-in-law.

The wedding turned out beautiful with my nephew Dean giving his sister away.I know my brother was looking down from above and we felt his spirit with us.This was a small wedding of about 70 people. The bridgroom's family was from Santa Barbara and most everyone was from out of town. This is a wedding we won't forget.Wonderful ordourves of jumbo Shrimp,Oyster shooters and a couple others.Open bar with anything you want to drink. The meal started with Sushi and Caviar. Next was Lobster Ravioli with Lobster sauce,Salad with impoted cheese, and either Filet Mignon or Seared Salmon. Here's some photos of the wedding.

Oct.3,2011 Seaside

We arrived in Seaside at Leisure Time Resorts and stayed 10 days. The weather was really windy and storming the day we arrived and the day before we left. It was nice the time in between. We were there to visit Sam's aunt who is 99 and see his cousin. His aunt is not doing as good as when we saw her in May,she will be 100 in Dec. We hope to see her at her hundred birthday. We spent some time with Sam's cousin Bonnie and saw her sister Jeannie. Jeannie came down to Seaside so we all went out to lunch at a small Mexican place in Warrenton. We were able to sit outside overlooking Young's Bay and the Columbia and enjoy the beautiful view and sunshine.

The photo is of Sam,Jeannie,Alan,(Bonnie's other half) Bonnie and Jeannie's boyfriend Dave.

Bonnie has bought a house on Cullaby Lake and has had to completely remodel it.It needed lots of work but once it's finished it will be very nice and has a beautiful backyard with access to the lake.

When we got ready to leave Seaside our jacks wouldn't retract and Sam spent a couple hours trying to get them to work. Finally he got them fixed and we were on our way.Today has not been a good day we were on Hwy.26 to Portland and there was a accident and held us up another couple of hours. We aren't making much progress today. It was getting later and we hit the commute traffic around Portland so we ended up staying at Keizer Elks. This is a very nice lodge with lots of full hookups. They had a full house for dinner that night for Hambugers, fries and onion rings. It was cheap and good. The next night we ended staying in Talent ,Ore. at a Passport America park.I wouldn't recomend anyone staying there as it's full of trashy trailers and right by the highway. It was $14. a night. The next day we drove all the way to a TT/Naco park called Lake Minden which is about 35 minutes to Sacramento. We will stay here until the 12th and then go to Petaluma to my sister's.We also have dr.'s appt. in Sac this week so it's close enough to go everyday. That's it for now.

Sept. 10,2011

We have finally got summer here in the NW so Friday nite we took advantage of it and went to the Pt. Townsend Brewery. There was a group called the Deadwood Revival that was playing outside from 5 to 8.We arrived about 20 minutes before they were to play and were able to get some chairs. We were sure glad we got there early because it got to standing room only.We really like this group and stayed until 8 listening to the music and had some wine and beer.
This weekend is the Wooden Boat Festival and Sam and I went into Port Townsend to join in the festivities.
There so many different types of wooden boats, old ones, newer ones, pygma, kayaksand old sailing ships. Here are a few we saw and were able to get on a few of them.

They had music playing all day and we took some time to sit and eat lunch and listen to some Cajun music under the big tent.

We will be leaving this area in about a week and heading  to Seaside Ore.for about 10 days and then on to see Dr.'s in Sacramento. We look forward  to seeing friends down the road.

Sept.3,2011 Labor Day Weekend

We want to wish everyone out there a Happy Labor Day.On Saturday Sam and I went out to Ft. Flagler to their summer concert series. They have different venues each week outside in the fort. This is the last concert of the season and the U.S Navy Band NW was playing. They were very good and played mostly big band music with a kick. It was an enjoyable evening just hanging out. On Labor Day we went over to friends for a barbeque to celebrate the day.

Aug 28,2011 Acrobats

We heard there was a show being put on by a French couple who use their sailboat as a backdrop for their acrobat show and decided to go see what it was all about. They do acrobats using the ropes and sails of the boat. They have a funny act and a romantic act.We only stayed for the one show as we didn't want to wait for another hour and half for the next one. They were pretty good although you really need to be there to appreciate what they do.They travel around doing their act for donations. They said next year they will be in french Polynesia.

Aug 23,2011 Poulsbo and dinner with Friends

Sam and I went to Poulsbo for a Art Festival last weekend which was held on the waterfront. That's one nice thing about being in this area for the summer,we're surrounded by water and it's beautiful.
There's always something going on and we're just a ferry ride to Seattle. Here are some photos of the waterfront.
On the 23rd we went to Ferrino's Pizza with friends as Eleanor and Dave Berry are leaving and we wanted enjoy a nice visit with them before they head out. They are also Boomers and spend their winters in Fla.Eleanor and Dave
