We decided to stop at Sims Flat Campground. It's about 10 miles south of Dunsmuir on Sims Rd. We stayed at this campground about 30 yrs. ago and didn't know if we would be able to get in with a big rv. We unhooked the car and drove it down to the campground, it was a go. This is a nice stop and will handle large rv's. This is a forest service campground and cost us $6.00 with our golden age pass. It's on the Sacramento River. Years ago it was a CCC camp.

This park has a few nice trails along the river and you can walk to the steel suspension bridge. From this bridge you have some beautiful views of Mt. Shasta.
