April 28,2012 Dachau,Numphburg Palace

Hopefully here come the photos.
Dachau Concentration camp. Entrance to the camp.There's a saying as you enter,it says Work Will Set You Free.

The men would be called outside several times a day and stand at attention so they could count everyone.If someone was missing they would stand outside all night until that person was found dead or alive.There were lots of barracks with beds that were sracked 3 high.You climbed the latter to the top and then crawled over everyone if your bunk was at the other end.

Everything is well documented and they have several monuments for all different religions.It wasn't just Jews that were in this camp.They had political prisoners,and other outcasts.This was the first camp and was a model for all that came afterward.We did see the gas chamber and crematorium and it was very moving. Never Again!

April 28,2012 Munich

Since I haven't had any internet I will try and do a catch up in this one blog.We arrived in Munich and stayed in Munich for 5 nights.We were busy seeing the Nymphburg Palace,The Residece,going to the Hofbraus and and walking around old town Munich.We liked the area in and around Munich. After leaving Munich we headed down to Fussen home of King Ludwigs Castle.There is one that he lived in with his mother and the one he built.His fairy tale castle.We couldn't take photos so your out of luck.It was like Disney's castle. It was a lot of walking although you can catch a bus most of the way up.It's a steep up climb and also coming down.This was a beautiful area surrounded by the Alps.After leaving Fussen we crossed over the Alps into Innsburg.We didn't go into town just stayed at campground and walked into a town called Hall in Tirol.We parked next to a couple from Sweden and enjoyed their company for the evening.They spoke very good English and and we had a few glasses of wine.Great night.The next day we were headed into Italy and of course our Gps got us lost.We were in the Dolomites and already high in the mountains.We ended up going on a hour long drive into the mountains and then it happened.Our rear axle was about to fall off.Some of the bolts were missing and we got into this little town and a couple of men had it off and had to put another one on as the bolts ere broke off and they couldn't get them out. They worked very fast and had us back on the road within a hour.We finally found our way out of the small villages and made it to Bolzano.We went to see the Otzi man.He is the man that had been frozen for over 5000 years.His body was mummified and all intact.They have him in a climate controled area and he is monitered all the time.There was a article in National Geographic Magazine and also on TV.You can see his whole body.Next stop was Lake Garda and it is surrounded by the mountains.We stayed At Malcesine and we into the small village.We loved it here and they had a lot of campgrounds around the lake.We should of stayed longer.Our next stop was Verona.We visited the Roman arena and we wern't impressed.We've seen others we liked better. We went and visited Juliets house and saw the house and the balcony where Rshe stood.There were lots of people there and they had locks they were selling.You take the locks and put your name on them then chainn it to the bridge.They have a church called Sant' Anastasia and the inside it beautiful I did get some photos and will post them later.We also went to the Castlevecchio.This castle was built by the Scaligeri family as a residence and a fortress.They had a lot of nice art and statues that was very nice.Our next stop was Vicenza and we walked around the old town.The basilica Palladina dominates the square and is under renovation and will open sometime this year. I finally got a internet modem for Italy so will hopefully be able to keep the post up to date.Next stop Venice.

April 25,2012 Nurnburg

We arrived in Nurnburg after leaving Rothenburg and had a hard time finding The place we were going to park.Our GPS has a mind of it's own at times and takes to other places.We finally found the spot we were going to park which was a Volks park and was a free spot.There were around 9 rvs there staying as well. Germany is great for having places where rv's can stay for free or a small amount of Euros.After getting settled in The Germanic Museum was open on Wed. evening for free so we took advantage of that.They had a lot of medeival armour,ornate furniture and sleighs.

April 24,2012 Rothenburg

Today we spent the day in Rothenburg.This a medeival town and is surrounded by a roman wall.We walked around the wall and spent time going to the church and visiting other places around the city.This a must see place. We loved this town. My favorite so far.We are camped in a stellplatz across the street so it was quite handy and easy to walk to.They have a nightwatchman's tour that was recomended so took that in the evening.He is quite humorous and also has a knowledge about the city.The tour is very good and worth every penny spent on it.Tomorrow we head to Nurnburg.

April 23,2012 Triburg Black Forest

We went to Triburg home of the black forest and cuckoo clocks. It is also has Germany's largest waterfall.We hiked up to the waterfalls and it was beautiful. It starts high above and cascading down into lots of water falls.There are cuckoo clocks everywhere and I couldn't leave without buying one.These cuckoo clocks can run up to a thousand dollars.I just bought a small one that I can put in our casita in Benson.The Black Forest is very green and mountainous and we really liked it. We left there and were heading for Rothenburg and had to stop at a fiat dealer to fix our exhaust pipe.Part of it broke off and they welded it on. They were very nice to us and didn't charge but 59E.

April 22,2012 Baden-Baden

We arrived in Baden Baden and and staying at anice stellplatz close to town.Baden-Baden is known for there baths.They have 2 places you can go to in Baden- Baden for the baths.One is Caracalla and the other is the Roman-Irish Baths. We went to Caracalla and it was wonderful.Hot Pools and jets everywhere.This looks like a roman bath with the ceiling like a forum. The pools are huge and inside the pools they have area that are hotter.They have a sauna that you can go in and just sit and meditate.It has aromatic smells and the steam is like heavy foggy mist.The ceiling has a blue sky with twinkling stars.It smells so good but I could only stand it for about 5 minutes.They also have a ice cold pool you can get into and I got down 2 steps and was out in a flash.Some people tried to get in but it's just like being frozen inn ice.It was a wonderful 2 hours and so very relaxing. The other baths(Roman) are very old and have been around a very long time.If you go to them it is all nudity so we went to Caracalla.We really enjoyed the town and the baths.
