Aug.5,2011 Coho Days Art show,Brown Bag And Wine

During CoHo Days we had a art show, showing all the talents of some the leaseholders. There is a lot of talent here in the park. Some of the crafts are carving and painted gourds, trash can jewelery, photography, and decorated bras.

The bras were made by Diane Roulier for away to raise money for cancer. There was a event called Bras for a Cause and they were bid on at a auction. They raised $10,000 for the cause. She also makes the trash can jewelery out of poptop for soda cans.Very inventive.
We also had a brown bag auction and made money for the Vets.
We also had a wine and cheese tasting and the proceeds went for charity. This event was very well done and there was a wine basket full of wine and goodies for a raffle. The couple putting on the event also took wine bottles and decorated them with lights and decorations and were given away in the raffle as well. We really enjoyed this event and I also helped serve the wine.

Besides the wine they had a car show before the wine tasting and they had some real beauties.
Holding up the rear.
A great ending to a great week.

July 30,2011 Whidbey Island

Today we decided to go over to Whidbey Island as it was our Anniversary tomorrow the 31st.We took the ferry over and were just in time to get on.In the summer it's good to have reservations as it's a small ferry and it gets very busy.Coming into to Coupeville there is a campground right there on the water.Looks a nice place if you want to be on the water.(it's a state park I believe.)
After getting off the ferry we drove to Deception Pass and parked so we could walk across the bridge. It was a beautiful day and the view was very nice and peaceful. We could see people out on the beach enjoying the day.
We proceeded on to La Conner, one of my favorite little towns. Since it was our anniversary tomorrow we were going to eat at Palmers and when we got there it had been closed. The Indians were having a gathering across the river, every year they have a gathering in different places and canoe to the event.I guess put in lots of money to build the area up with gazebo type structures. They had free breakfast and dinners every day. There were lots of people attending the event.

We headed back to Coupeville to have some Penn Cove Mussels and stopped to eat at Toby's.The Mussels were good and Sam had the Fish and Chips.
After finishing dinner we had to hightail it to the ferry. We had to try and get the 730 ferry otherwise the next one and last onewas at 930.We arrived just as the ferry was coming into the dock.We were the last one on that didn't have a reservation.Thank goodness we made it on. We a wonderful day to celebrate our anniversary.

Here's a photo of the John Wayne Marina.A nice place to sit and enjoy the marina and view.

July 24,2011 Sandcastles

We woke up this morning to a overcast and cloudy sky. There was a Sandcastle Festival in Port Angeles going on so we decided to head up there to see all the Sandcastles. When we got there it was foggy and didn't think it was going to be a nice day. We've been to this a couple of years ago and enjoyed it very much. They also had a great farmers market going on and the vegies looked very nice. Also had beautiful flowers in a vase for $9 couldn't beat the price.
The theme for this years festival was sporting events. It seemed there was less sand sculptures than they had a couple of years ago. There were more art and craft booths and had musicians playing on a stage . The fog cleared up and and it turned out to be a beautiful day.
After leaving Port Angeles we headed back to Chimacum and made a stop at the Olympic Winery. We like their wine and had to taste and buy a few bottles.
We had an enjoyable day but we were somewhat disapointed in the sand sculptures.
