May 25,2013 Lake Bled

Above the far end of the lake are the Julian Alps covered in snow and standing over Lake Bled.

In the middle of the lake sits a small island which has a small church you can visit. The only way to the island is by the plentna boats. You also can rent a row boat and row your self across if the weather is good, which it wasn't.The church also has a romantic twist as many brides and grooms venture over there where the tradition is for the groom to carry the bride up the 99 steps to the church.

Bled also has a castle that sits on the edge of a cliff.it's over 1000 years old and at one time was the seat of the Austrian Bishops who controlled Bled in the middle ages.

We loved this area of Slovenia with all it's beauty. If the weather had been better it would of made it even more enjoyable.

May 23,2013 Vienna and Slovenia

While in Vienna we visited the Hapsburg Palace and the Schrombum Palace. the Schronbrunn was much more plush than the Hofburg. In the evening we went to a Mozart and Strauss concert which was very good. After leaving we went to Bled Slovenia and spend several day there.Lake Bled is a very beautiful lake with a amazing setting..The weather wasn't cooperating so it wasn't as nice as it would have been if it was sunny. It still was picture perfect and so peaceful. There is a small church on a little island in the middle of the lake.Because of the rain we decided not to take the boat over. Instead we walked around the lake and took as many photos as I could. There isn't much to the town but people come from all
over to relax and enjoy the beautiful lake.We stayed at Lake Bled camping and it had been raining so it was pretty muddy. If it had been sunny it would have been great. We wanted to see Vintgar Gorge so we checked out of the campground and drove a few miles out of town and came to this beautiful gorge. They have a walking trail and small bridges that you walk along. The beauty of this gorge is amazing.I'll try and post some photos but can't guarantee anything. After visiting the gorge we traveled on to the town of Ljubjlana the capital of Slovenia.Slovenia is made up of mostly forests and mountains and I think it is one of my favorite countries we have visited. It is absolutely beautiful and clean.I will tell you more in another post as I get internet.Just tried to upload photos,no luck.

May 23,2013 Germany,Austria

After we left Wurzburg we went to visit friends near Stuttgart for a few days and parked in front of their house. We went to a Monastery and went out for dinner in this small town.

Friends Ed and Michele
We left Germany and headed for Vienna,Austria.Vienna is the capital of Austria, home to classical music, and the Hapsburg heritage. We picked my sister up on Tues. from the airport and she will spend 3 weeks with us touring Slovenia and Croatia. In Vienna we spent the first day walking around and visiting St. Stephen's Cathedral,Hofburg Palace, and Sisi museum.St. Stephen's is a massive church and unique in that all the stain glass of different colors reflect inside the church. They won't let you into the main nave without paying so everyone is taking photos through the gates. Here our some of the photos I took even though it's dark it's beautiful.

May 15 2013 Wurzburg,Germany

After leaving Netherlands we arrived in Wurzburg Germany.Wurzburg is on the Main river and is surrounded by many vineyards. We parked overnight in a stellplatz(parking area for rvs along the Main river. In the morning we woke up to a huge river boat docked right in front of us.Wurzburg is a very old city and has a large Rezidence that was used for the Prince Bishops. It has beautiful gardens where you might want to walk through and just sit and enjoy the day.The weather was very overcast and threatning to rain. After visiting Wurzburg we went to a little town calle Radsacher. This town is over 2000 years old and is known for their wine.Their vineyards all over and the town is up and down hills. You can walk around this small town and sample some of their wines. We liked the wine and bought about 6 bottles.Next stop will be close to Stuttgart at friends we met in Wales last year.

May 12 2013 Happy Mother's day/Amsterdam

Hello from Netherlands and Happy Mother's Day

We arrived in Amsterdam on the 7th of May and it was cold and showers. Here's Sam waiting for Donna to pick us up from the train station.Notice all the bikes.Nowhere on earth will you see so many bikes except maybe China.

We stayed in Donna's drive way a couple of nights waiting for our insurance papers to come. They didn't come on saturday so we decided to move over to the campground inWoerden. We stayed here a week at the beginning of our trip last year.A very nice and clean campground.People over here set up these huge rooms that attach to their trailers. These rooms are big and they use them as a living room.Nice if your staying awhile.Photo of our small rv over here.

May 10 2013 Copenhagen

We got off the the ship on the 7th of May in Copenhagen and staying  for 2 nights before flying to Amsterdam. The day we arrived it was a beautiful and warm day.We decided to take the train to central station instead of taxi from the ship.We should of taken the cab even at $40.00.We had quite a hike with all our luggage to the train and then once in Amsterdam another 4 blocks to Hotel. We got plenty of exercise lugging our luggage. When we got settled we went on the Step on Step off tour bus.It took us around all the sights although we didn't start until 2 we saw a lot.The ticket was also good for the next day. Also we got a 1hour boat ride through the canals. It was very nice. The next day we got back on the bus and went to the Little Mermaid,Amalienburg Palace,Fredenrick Church,Nyhavn,Saw the changing of the Royal Guards.

Amalienborg Palace is where the Queen and all the royals live. There are 4 different palaces in a circle in a courtyard. This is where we saw the changing of the guards.Everyday at noon they have music and change guards. This takes about 1 hour.

Nyhavn is a area in Copenhagen that was a place that saliors came into port. One side was nice ,the other naughty.Nowdays it's a picturesque harbor with many boats and sailing ships on the canals with colorful houses.

Of course we had to see the Little Mermaid. The statue is small and she's been beheaded and her arms have been cut off. The have her restored.
Here are some of the photos I took while in Copenhagen

May 8,2013 Helsingborg Sweden

We arrived in Sweden and took a bus to Sofiero Palace. The palace was built in 1864 by Crown Prince Oscar and his wife Sofia. It was then given to their grandson as a wedding present and the garden was brought to life. They have many Rhododendrons, and bulb flowers.
After seeing the palace we went back to town and saw the Karnan (once a watchtower). There are steps that lead to  archways to the top of the square that is the remains of the castle.

The next stop was the Maria Church,it is a gothic church and was started at the beginning of the 14th century. There are 2 chandeliers in the central aisle.
